Carol Snelson
Newborn Care Specialist

My journey to becoming a Newborn Care Specialist began at a young age. I started working with infants while I was still in high school, and my love for caring for babies continued to grow. During my college years, my sister had a baby, and I helped care for her newborn both day and night. That experience confirmed how much I enjoyed supporting babies, children, and families.

After realizing that childcare was my true calling, I attended nanny school. I graduated from the C.A.P.E. Center in Dallas, TX in 1987 and became a Certified Professional Nanny. After many years of working as a professional nanny, I found myself drawn back to caring for newborns. I wanted to use my experience, training, and passion to support new parents during one of the most important transitions in their lives.

Today, I help families with singletons, twins, and triplets by providing experienced newborn care, overnight support, parent education, and guidance during the first weeks and months at home. My goal is to help parents feel more rested, confident, and supported while their baby receives gentle, professional care.

Since 2011, I have worked as a Newborn Care Specialist, caring for families with singletons, twins, and triplets. I have completed the Baby Basics Newborn Care Specialist course through the Alexandria School, receiving a certificate of completion. This training included important newborn care topics such as:

• In utero development and birth

• Hospital procedures

• Newborn appearance

• Anatomy and physiology of the newborn

• Jaundice and elimination

• Sick baby care, health, and wellness

• Immunizations

• SUID and SIDS awareness

• Infant sleep and sleep training

• Breastfeeding and formula feeding

• Bathing and dressing

• Crying and calming methods

• Swaddling

• Colic and reflux

• Newborn schedules

• Nursery setup and baby equipment

• The role of a Newborn Care Specialist

I also continue to invest in ongoing education to stay current with newborn care practices. My continuing education includes Newborn Care Specialist and Advanced Newborn Care Specialist training through Newborn Care Solutions, along with additional classes through the International Nanny Conference.

With decades of hands on experience, continued education, and a deep passion for supporting families, I am honored to provide trusted newborn care for families in Dallas, Baton Rouge, and nationwide when accommodation is provided.
